The program, Breast Cancer Survivorship Navigator Virtual Learning Collaborative (VLC) is an innovative model that uses virtual learning to teach best practices of cancer survivorship navigation in underserved communities. This program is open to patient navigators, community health workers, and others who work with breast cancer survivors. This can include people who facilitate breast cancer support groups, participate in health ministries, lay navigators, etc. There is no cost to participate in this training.
Participants in this free 14-week program will build the expertise needed to provide physical, psychosocial, and practical support to women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, including young women and women living with metastatic cancer. At each weekly 60 minute session participants will gain practical skills and knowledge in key topic areas such as insurance, work accommodation, sex and intimacy, clinical trials, metastatic disease, and more.
The only two requirements for participation are: 1) direct patient/client experience with at least three breast cancer clients, and 2) commitment to active participation in the full 14-week series. Because this is case-based learning, each participant will be asked to share one de-identified case for discussion using a clear and easy-to-use form. We will support and coach people through this process!
